Conversion to Judaism
The Central Synagogue is proud to offer complete support to those interested in embracing our faith – from the initial ‘conversion conversation’ to ultimately becoming a member of our tribe!
The process of geirut, or conversion, is a profound journey encompassing both study and observance. Throughout the tutoring and teaching, all questions will be answered patiently and knowledge is garnered in the most natural and sensitive way – we will be with you through every step of the process. Please visit the SAJE website for more information.
The Central Synagogue’s popular conversion courses operate under the strict auspices of the Sydney Beth Din – the Jewish Ecclesiastical Court. Respected international Orthodox standards are maintained, purposefully ensuring the enduring integrity of this lifetime commitment, as many navigate the path to becoming a meaningful member of the Jewish faith. Each conversion is ultimately assessed by rabbinic members of the Sydney Beth Din.
Our sages teach that a convert has always had a Jewish soul at their core – this is merely a process of reconnection. We can’t wait to welcome you home!
